“Once I heard somebody say that if you love what you do, it’s not work. I love what I do. I do it because I enjoy it.”
Early Love for Design
For as long as I can remember I have always loved to put things together. When I was a kid, I loved puzzles. As I became older, I found I really enjoyed organizing rooms and rearranging furniture. Arranging someone’s home is like putting together a puzzle, figuring out which pieces fit where. My specialty has always been space planning and furniture arrangement.
Years ago, I realized I had a passion for the interior design business. There came a season in life when I gave up my business in order to go into full time ministry with my husband. During this time, I realized that a part of me was missing and that is when I became aware that I had a real passion for design. I just could not, Not decorate. I loved decorating and enjoyed beautiful things. I especially loved decorating for people.
Using My Passion to Help Others
I believe that God really gave me the gift of appreciating beauty, the gift of organization and order, and an eye for color. I had prayed and asked God to use the gifts that were in me. After my husband retired, I thought this was the perfect opportunity to use those gifts and those talents, and asked God to multiply them. All of a sudden, my passion became a business, and then it became an opportunity for other people to be a part of the business. My passion for the Lord and my passion to help other people put their homes together became what I do every day. I get up and do it every day. I love to do it; it’s not work. It is a blessing.
I’ve told people over and over when you really enjoy something so much that you don’t mind doing whatever it takes or whatever the cost, THEN you have a passion for it! I believe it’s our passion that causes things in our work to succeed. Passion is that extra effort, the over and above, to go beyond what most people would do. Passion will take you there!
Being a Servant
I also do what I do because I believe that God has giving me the opportunity to be in this business. I get to be His servant. I get to see His blessings every day. I trust God to provide. He will send us the people because He wants to bless them and uses our gifts and talents to do that. It goes hand-in-hand. It’s all about people and how God wants to work through me and my team to be a blessing. My passion for God and what I do gets to be lived out every day.
When you are truly doing what you love to do, you will never burn out.
Are you living out your passion?
